Wrestlers Dominate Luther Duals

LAST WEEK The Golden Eagles improved their overall record to 4-4 with a dominating performance at the Luther Duals on the campus of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, on Sat., Jan. 8. Marquette started the day off with a 43-3 win over Cornell University. 133-pounder Nathan Challis (Beech Grove, Ind./Beech Grove) scored the most impressive victory of the meet with a pin over Andrew Birkstand. No wrestler on the Golden Eagles? sqaud lost in their victory over the Big Red. Marquette?s success continued with a resounding 45-12 victory over Carleton College. 149-pounder Jared Zimmet (Cabin John, Md./Winston Churchill) stood out in the match with a pin over Will Siertchua in 28 seconds. The Golden Eagles defeated St.Olaf College 47-9 before eventually losing to seventh-ranked Division II power Minnesota-Mankato 33-12. Not counting forfeits, 174-pounder Mark Corsentino (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame) was the only Golden Eagle to win all four of his matches and is now 10-9 overall this season.
