MILWAUKEE - The nationally-ranked Marquette women's soccer team concludes its regular season tonight at Valley Fields as it hosts DePaul at 8:15 p.m. The match is preceded by the Marquette men's soccer team hosting nationally-ranked UAB at 6 p.m.
The matches, which are the final home match for both, start with the Marquette men's team looking for an upset of 10th-ranked UAB. The Blazers, 9-3-2 overall and 3-1-2 in Conference USA play, are looking for a win to extend a six match unbeaten streak and possibly host the C-USA Tournament.
With a win, Marquette coach Steve Adlard moves into first place by himself as the coach with the most wins in school history. The Golden Eagles are also looking to rebound from a three-match scoreless streak, in which they lost 1-0 each to Cincinnati, Memphis and Saint Louis. Since defeating South Florida, 4-1, in September, the men's soccer team has not scored a goal in conference play.
The 20th-ranked Marquette women (15-2-1 overall, 9-0-1 in C-USA play) have already clinched first place in Conference USA and have earned the top seed in next week's C-USA Tournament in St. Louis, Mo. The Golden Eagles are looking to extend their winning streak against rival DePaul to five matches. A win would also mark the first time in history that MU has gone through conference play without a loss. With nine wins, they already have more conference wins in a season than any other Marquette women's soccer team.
The Blue Demons come into the match at 3-13 overall and 2-8 in C-USA play and are being outscored by a 34-15 margin.
