ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Golden Eagles track teams started the indoor season at Lewis University on Dec. 9, 2000.
The Marquette men's track team raced into the taking first through fifth place in the 400-meter dash. Sophomore Marek Krawczyk tied a personal best and set a meet record, running 48.87. He was followed by freshman Ernest Gibson and junior Brian Hardin to round out the top three. Other contributors for the men were sophomore Nic Wucherer, who also tied a personal best in the 55-meter hurdles, with a time of 7.73 and senior Heath Roussel who threw for a meet record in the weight throw, with a distance of 48-9.
The women were not to be outdone, and their 1600-meter relay team, consisting of junior Jennifer Batie, senior Megan Kosman, freshman Julianna Wesolowski and junior Jeannette Batie, set a meet record with a time of 3:56:62.
The Golden Eagle women setting records on the field. Sophomore Amy Merrill and senior Megan Kosman both set personal records in the high jump, jumping 4-11 and 5-1.5, respectively. Sophomore Missy Detzner and freshman Brooke Haseltine also set personal bests in the pole vault. They vaulted into the Marquette All-Time Ranking, placing 4th and 2nd, respectively. Junior Julie Sorrentino set a meet record in the weight throw with a toss of 54-6.75. Marquette also held the meet record in shot put, as senior Annie Lewandowski heaved the shot 41-8.75.
