Marquette Loses Thriller Against Dayton, 61-60

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Yuanta Holland's layup with two seconds remaining gave Dayton a 61-60 victory over Marquette on Saturday night.
Keith Waleskowski had 13 points for Dayton (8-4). Holland added 12 and David Morris 11.
Brian Wardle led Marquette (4-5) with 25 points, and Scott Merritt had 11.
Dayton led 31-23 at halftime, and led by 10 with 12:10 to play when Wardle hit a 3-pointer and Merritt had a basket to start a 20-8 run that gave Marquette a 56-54 lead with 2:57 left. The run ended with a pair of free throws by Merritt, a 3-pointer by Wardle and a tip-in by Merritt for the lead.
Morris hit a 3-pointer to regain the lead for Dayton, and Tony Stanley made a pair of free throws at 2:12 to put the Flyers up by three.
Wardle's layup cut the led to one at 1:45, and another basket by Wardle gave Marquette a 60-59 lead with six seconds to go. On the inbounds play, Waleskowski dished to Holland, who scored on a fast-break layup to give Dayton the win.
Both teams had 30 rebounds, and Marquette outshot Dayton from the field 50 percent (24-of-48) to 38 percent (19-of-50). But Dayton was 18-of-25 at the free-throw line, while Marquette was 5-for-9.
