Golden Eagles Drop First Dual Meet Of Season

The Marquette Golden Eagles dropped their first dual meet of the season to Northern Illinois University on Thursday Nov. 30 in DeKalb, Ill., 36-6. Two Golden Eagle wrestlers came away with victories.
Junior Brock Warder (Sioux City, Iowa) in the 184-pound weight class won in an 8-4 decision over Northern Illinois' James Olivia. Freshman Phil Bronsteatter (Wausau, Wis.) defeated NIU's Sean Egan in a 10-9 decision.
At the 2000 Wisconsin Open on Saturday, Dec. 2, Phil Bronsteatter captured first place in the 141-pound class. Bronsteatter went 4-0 on his way to taking the title and improved his overall record to 15-4.
The Bronsteatter family wasn't finished, however. Phil's older brother, Matt, a senior, took fifth place in the same division and went 4-2 in the process.
Marquette freshmen continued to shine at the Wisconsin Open with freshman James Jaramillo (Belen, N.M.) taking home third place honors from the tournament. Jarmillo went 4-1 on the day.
The Golden Eagles will host the Marquette Open I on Saturday, Dec. 9, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A home dual meet against Eastern Illinois is also on the schedule the same day beginning at 7:00 p.m.
