MILWAUKEE -
UP NEXT Head coach Tim Grogan's Marquette golf squad opens its Spring season this Fri.-Sat., Feb. 25-26, at the South Florida/Ron Smith Invitational in Tampa, Fla. The three-round event will be held at the USF Golf Course, also known as "The Claw". Marquette will be one of 18 teams in a field that includes Arkansas State, Austin Peay State, Central Florida, Columbus State, Florida Atlantic, Florida Southern, Jacksonville State, Louisville, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, South Florida, Southern Miss, Tennessee-Chattanooga, Troy State, Tulane, Virginia Commonwealth and Wichita State.
LAST FALL The Marquette University golf team concluded a strong fall season with an impressive second-place finish at Tulane's Deep South Intercollegiate Tournament, where they shot an even-par 864, a school-record team low. The Golden Eagles had three Top-10 finishes in their four Fall events. Juniors Tim Jacobs (McHenry, Ill. / McHenry), who averaged a team-low 74.2 round average, and Edvins Erkmanis (Franklin, Wis. / Martin Luther), who led Marquette with a fifth-place finish and season-low round of 69 at Tulane, paced the Golden Eagles throughout the Fall.
QUOTING TIM GROGAN "The way we finished in the Fall, with our lowest tournament scoring average ever, should give us some good momentum for the upcoming season. We've got an experienced group, and they will use that strong finish as a springboard."
