Golf Team Impressive At Butler Invitational

CICERO, IND. - The Marquette University golf team turned in a strong showing this afternoon with a second place finish at Butler's Spring Invitational here on the Bear Slide Golf Course. The Golden Eagles claimed their lofty finish with consistent back-to-back rounds of 300 and 302 (602), finishing two shots off the lead. IUPUI captured the team title with a two-round score of 600 (291-309).
Brad White continued his solid spring with a fifth-place finish. The sophomore from Lake Geneva, Wis., paced the Golden Eagles with 149 (76-73), which was seven over par. Senior captain Tim Jacobs (72-78=150) and junior Mark Wentz (74-76=150) finished one shot behind White with scores of 150, which tied them for ninth. Jacobs shot a Marquette-low 72 during the event's first day. Marc Fisher (78-76=154) and Edvins Erkmanis (79 77=156) rounded out the Marquette finishers.
IUPUI's Brad Baker shot an even-par 142 to earn individual honors.
