Roethe Named Golden Eagles' MVP

Milwaukee - Senior Kelly Roethe was named Most Valuable Player for the Marquette women's soccer team tonight at MU's annual All-Sports Banquet. The midfielder from Wauwatosa, Wis., adds the hardware to the considerable honors she has received over her a career.
A four-year starter, Roethe led Marquette in scoring in each of her seasons and concluded her career as the all-time leading scorer for both Marquette and Conference USA. As a co-captain last season, Roethe led Marquette to its first-ever C-USA Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament, scoring 33 points on 13 goals and seven assists. She also led the league in scoring for the third time.
Roethe has achieved both on the field and in the classroom during her four years. She was a four-time All-C-USA First Team selection and a two-time NSCAA All-Region First Team selection. Roethe also was a three-time GTE Academic All-District First Team honoree and has twiced been named as the C-USA Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year. She was also named to the NSCAA Academic All-America First Team.
