Women place fifth at Minnesota Classic

The Marquette women's track team finished fifth in the Minnesota Classic today, with a total of 37 points.
BYU won the meet, earning 156 points, and were followed by host Minnesota (139 points), Texas Arlington (77 points) and Iowa (39.5 points).
The Golden Eagles soared at the meet, setting multiple new season-best times. Senior Jennifer Batie finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.96, a season best for the Golden Eagles in the 400 meters. Sandy Fondow finished fifth in the 600-meter run, again setting a team season-best. Freshman Susan Barth finished third in the 3000-meter run, putting up a season-best 9:54.57.
The team returns to action Saturday, Feb. 3 at the University of Illinois.
