BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Marquette's golf team is in 11th place after the first two rounds of the John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio. The hosts, Bowling Green, leads the event with a six-over 582. Marquette is 36 strokes behind at 618.
Freshman Nathan Colson is Marquette's top finishers after the first day. He fired his second sub 70 round of the season with a 69 in the first round. He was one shot of the lead at that point. A second round 76 gave him a 36-hole total of one-over, 145.
Colson is five shots off the lead shared by John Schones of Wright State and Ryan Harmon of Youngstown State. Both shot a four-under 140.
Also for Marquette, Matt Hilton placed 23rd with a five-over 149. Jason Gaare placed 46th with an 11-over 155. Mike Everson shot a 169 and is 59th place. Justin Christensen, in his first collegiate event, placed 60th with a 177.
The John Piper Intercollegiate continues on Tuesday, Oct. 23, with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
