Marquette Volleyball Falls At Houston

Milwaukee -- The Marquette volleyball team closed out the Conference USA regular-season schedule Saturday evening with a loss at Houston. The Cougars bested the Golden Eagles in three games, 32-30, 30-16, 30-19, at the Hofheinz Pavilion, raising UH's overall record to 15-10 (12-4 C-USA) while Marquette slipped to 17-11 overall, 9-7 in the league.
Freshman Jennifer Amobi (Silver Springs, Mary.) totaled a team-high 10 attacks for Marquette while senior Mehgan Devine (Harris, Minn.) hit a team-best 29.4 percent (7-2--17) while coming up with a team-high eight digs. Junior Danielle Hagen (Milwaukee) turned in a fine defensive match with seven digs and five block assists.
Marquette ended the match with a 15.0 hitting percentage (38-20--120) while Houston's offense was in high gear with a 37.3 attack percentage (64-17--126). The Cougars compiled 55 digs compared to Marquette's 39 and held a slim 8-7 edge in total blocks.
Marquette returns to Houston next week (Nov. 15-18) to participate in the Conference USA Tournament.
