Marquette Volleyball Upends TCU

Milwaukee -- The Marquette volleyball team picked up a win on the road Friday evening, defeating TCU in three games. The Golden Eagles boosted their overall record to 17-10, 9-6 in C-USA, following a 30-24, 30-18, 30-15 win over the Horned Frogs. The loss dropped TCU's overall slate to 7-20, 3-12 in the league.
Freshman Jennifer Amobi (Silver Springs, Mary.) recorded a blistering 59.4 hitting percentage, racking up a match-high 19 kills with no errors in 32 attack attempts. Amobi's effort represented the highest attack percentage by a Marquette player during head coach Laura Farina's three-year tenure with the Golden Eagles. Senior Vesna Grbavac (Palatine, Ill.) rounded out the double-figure attack performers for MU with 11. Freshman Erin Freer (Stevensville, Mich.) and Grbavac finished the contest with 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
For the match, Marquette hit 31.5 percent (51-16--111) while holding TCU to .029 percent (28-25--103). The Golden Eagles recorded a 43-30 advantage in digs and totaled seven total blocks compared to TCU's five.
Marquette closes out the C-USA regular season on Saturday (Nov. 10) with a match at Houston starting at 7:00 p.m.
