Milwaukee -- The Marquette men's basketball team made its first appearance in the USA Today/ESPN Poll this year, drawing a No. 21 national ranking that was released Sunday evening (Dec. 2). The Golden Eagles were tabbed as the No. 23 squad in the nation in last week's Associated Press rankings.
Head Coach Tom Crean and his squad ran the team's record to 7-0 this past weekend, defeating Texas Southern and Sam Houston State University en route to Marquette's third straight Blue and Gold Coca Cola Classic title. Marquette senior guard Cordell Henry was named the tourney MVP while sophomore Dwyane Wade and freshman Todd Townsend captured spots on the all-tournament team.
The Golden Eagles will continue their season with a pair of home games this week. On Wednesday (Dec. 5), Marquette will entertain Dayton starting at 8:00 p.m., before taking on Fordham on Saturday (Dec. 8) in a 1:00 p.m. start. Both games will be played at the Bradley Center.
