The Marquette women's track team will be on the road again this weekend, going to the University of Illinois to take on the Fighting Illini on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles will face the Illini, as well as Ball State, Chicago State, Northern Illinois, Valparaiso, Southern Indiana and Conference-USA rival Memphis.
Last weekend the team was in Minnesota for a meet against the Golden Gophers. The women ran fast enough to set new season-bests in the 400-meter dash, the 600-meter run, the 800-meter run, the mile, the 3,000-meter run, the pole vault and the shot put. Junior Jennifer Batie ran 56.96 in the 400-meter dash, followed by freshman Julianna Wesolowski, who also beat the previous season best. Freshman Sandy Fondow ran the 600-meter run in 1:39.01, dashing by the old season best of 1:41.50. Freshman Brianna Dahm finished the mile in under five minutes (4:58.70) to set a new season best. Not to be out-done, sophomore Susan Barth completed the 3,000-meter run in 9:54.57, smashing the old season best by over a minute. Senior Megan Kosman vaulted 10-0 to put herself atop the season best list. Senior Annie Lewandowski threw a personal and season best 45-2.25 in the shot put.
