GREENVILLE, S.C. - Marquette Freshman Ryan Weber shot a two-round 142 (-2) in the first day of the Pirate Spring Intercollegiate at Bradford Creek Golf Club in Greenville, S.C. He led Marquette to a second-place standing following the first two rounds of the three-round event.
Marquette as a team shot a 10-over, 586, and is just four shots behind tournament leader Campbell. The Golden Eagles are in a tie for second place with Elon College. MU and Elon have a seven-stroke advantage over fourth place George Mason.
With a shot at the individual title, Weber fired rounds of 70 and 72 in the first 36 holes. He is tied for second with Andrew Svoboda of St. John's. Both trail leader David Carroll of Campbell, who turned in two rounds of 70 for a score of four-under, 140.
Sophomore Matt Hilton is also in the top 10. His two-round score of even par, 144, has him in fifth place.
Senior Mark Wentz turned in a respectable score of six-over, 150, and is tied for 32nd. Senior Edvins Erkmanis shot an eight-over, 152, and is in a tie for 46th place. Rounding out the roster for MU, Brad White is in 54th place with a nine-over, 153.
Play concludes Saturday, April 7 with the final round.
