MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's golf team will play in their second tournament of the fall season Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 1-2) at the Hillman Robbins Memorial Intercollegiate Golf Tournament in Memphis, Tenn. The 54-hole tournament has the teams playing 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday at the 7,052 yard Club at Big Creek golf course.
The Golden Eagles are one of 16 teams in the field that includes six Conference USA schools. The other C-USA teams are Depaul, Saint Louis, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, and host Memphis.
Last week, the Golden Eagles were paced by Freshman Nathan Colson at the Butler Invitational Sept. 24-25. Colson carded a 14-over 222 to finish 14th. Junior Matt Hilton (Muskego) fired a 228 (29th).
"We were a bit disappointed with the way we fared last week," Head Coach Tim Grogan said. "The conditions were tough, but we had a great outing from Nate Colson. He's a talented freshman that is showing he's for real."
The par-72 competition begins with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday's final round will have the players teeing off from holes 1 and 10 at 8 a.m. Following this tournament, the Golden Eagles will travel to Toledo, Ohio for their final fall tournament, the Wright State Invitational Oct. 22-23.
