Marquette Volleyball Faces Road Test At Charlotte

MATCH INFO - The Marquette volleyball team looks to get back in the win column on Saturday (Oct. 12) when it plays at Charlotte in its lone action of the weekend. Halton Arena on the Charlotte campus will serve as the site of the 15th meeting between the Golden Eagles and 49ers and the match will begin at 6:00 p.m. (CST). Following the Charlotte contest, the Golden Eagles face another road test on Tuesday, October 15, when it plays at Wisconsin-Green Bay.
THE COACHES - Marquette is directed by first-year head coach Pati Rolf (North Dakota State, '92) who was appointed to her current position on May 10, 2002. Heading into this weekend, Rolf has a 15-year career won-lost slate of 319-175 including an 9-6 effort at Marquette. She joined the Golden Eagles following a successful 14-year career at Minnesota-Duluth where she compiled a 310-169 won-lost slate.
Charlotte Head Coach Lisa Marston is in her third season at the helm of the 49ers' program and posts a school record of 39-42. In eight seasons as a head coach, Marston has a career ledger of 124-121.
THE RECORDS -- Marquette claims an overall record of 9-6 (1-2 C-USA) following a pair of setbacks last weekend. MU dropped a three-game decision to Louisville (20-30, 25-30, 25-30) before coming out on the short end of a hard-fought five-game verdict to Cincinnati (30-28, 22-30, 30-28, 27-30, 6-15).
Charlotte entertains Marquette with an overall won-lost slate of 10-9, 1-1 in league outings. In their most recent performance, the 49ers lost a five-game decision to Davidson on Tuesday.
SERIES NOTES - Marquette holds a 9-5 edge in the all-time series against Charlotte. The Golden Eagles have won the last three matches including a pair of decisions in 2001.
ON THE HORIZON -- After its non-league match at UW-Green Bay on Tuesday, Marquette returns home the weekend of Oct. 18-19 to play host Southern Miss and Tulane, respectively. Both contests will be played at the Marquette Gym and start at 7:00 p.m.
MARQUETTE PLAYER & TEAM NOTES - Through matches played Oct. 9, Marquette stood No. 4 among C-USA teams in attack percentage (.229) ... Freshman Theresa Coughlin (Chicago) is coming off a big weekend, leading the team with 15 attacks as well as a 41.4 hitting percentage against Louisville ... Against UC, Coughlin totaled 22 kills (her second-highest total of the year) and contributed six digs ... In three conference matches, Coughlin owns a team-best 4.64 kills per game average ... Junior Gemma Greer (Winfield, Ill.) doled out 54 assists in the UC contest (third highest of the year) and cracked the 2,500-career assists plateau (2,511) ... Senior Danielle Hagen's (Milwaukee) 15-kills, 11-digs performance against Cincinnati represented her fourth double double of the year ... Freshman Aga Niemcezewska (Vernon Hills, Ill.) totaled 14 kills against Cincinnati, her ninth performance of double-figure attacks this year ... Sophomore Shannon Devine (Harris, Minn.) ranked fifth among C-USA players in blocks (1.18 bpg) through matches played Oct. 9 ... Devine came up with her fourth double double of the campaign with 11 kills and 15 digs vs. Cincinnati.
