Marquette Volleyball Faces C-USA Road Tests

MATCH INFO - The Marquette volleyball team continues Conference USA action this Friday and Saturday (Oct. 25-26) when it faces road tests at Saint Louis and Memphis. The Bauman-Eberhardt Center on the SLU campus will be the setting for the 32nd meeting between Marquette and the Billikens while Roane Field House will serve as the venue for the 17th battle between MU and the Tigers. Both matches will begin at 7:00p.m.
THE COACHES - Marquette is directed by first-year head coach Pati Rolf (North Dakota State, '92) who was appointed to her current position on May 10, 2002. Heading into this weekend, Rolf has a 15-year career won-lost slate of 320-178 including a 10-9 effort at Marquette. She joined the Golden Eagles following a successful 14-year career at Minnesota-Duluth where she compiled a 310-169 won-lost slate.
Saint Louis Head Coach Marilyn Nolen is in her ninth season at the helm of the SLU program and has a record of 174-116. In 31 seasons of head coaching, Nolen has a career slate of 793-334.
Memphis Head Coach Carrie Yerty is in her sixth year guiding the Tigers and checks into the weekend with a school and career record of 106-117.
THE RECORDS -- Marquette claims an overall record of 10-9 (1-5 C-USA) following conference setbacks to Southern Miss and Tulane last weekend.
Saint Louis will host Marquette with an overall mark of 14-8, 4-2 in conference play. In their most recent outing, the Billikens ventured to UAB on Tuesday evening and dropped a three-game decision to the Blazers.
Memphis takes an overall record of 15-10 (0-5 C-USA) into a Friday night match against DePaul. On Tuesday of this week, Memphis ended a six-match losing streak when it defeated Arkansas State and Belmont.
SERIES NOTES - Saint Louis holds a 17-14 edge in the all-time series with Marquette. Last season the teams met once with the Golden Eagles claiming a four-game win.
MU stands 9-7 all-time against Memphis. The Golden Eagles have won the last four meetings between the schools.
ON THE HORIZON -- Following this weekend's road action, Marquette returns home the weekend of Nov. 1-2 to host TCU and Houston, respectively. Both matches will be played at the Old Gym and begin at 7:00 p.m.
MARQUETTE PLAYER & TEAM NOTES - Freshman Theresa Coughlin (Chicago) recorded 37 attacks over eight games last weekend vs. Southern Miss and Tulane ... In addition, she posted a solid 31.4 hitting percentage (37-9--89) in those two matches ... Freshman Jesse Klein (Lena, Ill.) totaled a career-high 11 blocks (4-7) in the Southern Miss match, the second-highest total by a Marquette player this year ... Klein then followed her USM performance with a personal-best 14 attacks and 11 digs vs. Tulane ... Sophomore Erin Freer (Stevensville, Mich.) chalked up 20 digs in the Southern Miss match, her second-highest total of the season ... Coughlin enters the weekend with double-figure attacks in her last seven matches ... In conference outings, Coughlin is averaging 4.59 kills per game, good for the No. 8 spot among C-USA performers ... Sophomore Shannon Devine (Harris, Minn.) owns a five-match streak of double-figure attacks.
