Marquette Volleyball Hosts TCU and Houston This Weekend

MATCH INFO - The Marquette volleyball team enjoys a two-match homestand this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 1-2) when it hosts a pair of league foes. The Golden Eagles welcome TCU to town on Friday before closing out the weekend on Saturday with a contest against Houston. Both matches will be played at the MU Gym and begin at 7:00 p.m.
THE COACHES - Marquette is directed by first-year head coach Pati Rolf (North Dakota State, '92) who was appointed to her current position on May 10, 2002. Heading into this weekend, Rolf has a 15-year career won-lost slate of 320-180 including a 10-11 effort at Marquette. She joined the Golden Eagles following a successful 14-year career at Minnesota-Duluth where she compiled a 310-169 won-lost slate.
TCU Head Coach Prentice Lewis (Long Beach State, '95) is in her first season at the helm of the Horned Frogs' program. Prior to her current post, she served as an assistant coach at Florida during the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
Houston Head Coach Bill Walton (George Williams, '74) is in his 17th year guiding the Cougars and checks into the weekend with a school and career record of 351-193. During his tenure at Houston, he has directed the program to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances.
THE RECORDS -- Marquette claims an overall record of 10-11 (1-7 C-USA) following conference setbacks at Saint Louis and Memphis last weekend.
TCU will pay Marquette a visit with an overall mark of 10-13, 2-5 in conference play. In their most recent outings, the Horned Frogs defeated UAB last Friday before dropping a match to league-leading South Florida on Saturday.
Houston takes an overall record of 14-7 (4-2 C-USA) into a Friday night match against DePaul.
SERIES NOTES - The all-time series between Marquette and TCU stands tied at 1-1. Last year, Marquette posted a three-game decision over the Horned Frogs at Fort Worth.
Houston shows an all-time record of 8-1 against Marquette. Last season, the Cougars claimed a 3-0 verdict against Marquette.
ON THE HORIZON -- Following this weekend's road action, Marquette has one more home match, Friday, Nov. 15, against DePaul starting at 7:00 p.m. Next Friday and Sunday (Nov. 8 & 10), the Golden Eagles travel to UAB and South Florida, respectively.
MARQUETTE PLAYER & TEAM NOTES - Freshman Theresa Coughlin (Chicago) leads the team in kills in both overall (3.77 kpg) and conference (4.03 kpg) play ... Coughlin is six attacks shy of reaching 300 this year ... Junior Gemma Greer (Winfield, Ill.) is averaging 10.49 assists per game and her 818 assists place her 13th on the school's seasonal ladder ... Freshman Jesse Klein (Lena, Ill.) starts the weekend with a three-match streak of double-figure attacks ... Klein totaled 22 attacks, along with eight blocks, over seven games last weekend ... Sophomore Erin Freer (Stevensville, Mich.) leads the club in digs (3.38 dpg) and her total of 19 against Saint Louis last weekend was her third-highest total of the campaign ... Freshman Aga Niemcezewska (Vernon Hills, Ill.) owns a three-match streak of double-figure kills ... Sophomore Shannon Devine (Harris, Minn.) is tied for sixth place among C-USA Players in blocks (1.14 bpg).
