MILWAUKEE - Head women's basketball coach Terri Mitchell has announced the signing of three high school players to national letters of intent. The incoming freshman class includes Danielle Kamm from Saginaw, Mich.; Jasmine McCullough from St. Louis, Mo.; and Christina Quaye from Chicago, Ill.
Kamm plays small forward for Nouvel Catholic Central High School in Saginaw, Mich. She averaged 20.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game as a junior and was named to Street & Smith's High School All-America Team. As a sophomore, she scored 18.4 points per game and scored 15.7 points per game as a freshman. She is a three-time first-team all-state selection and is currently a candidate for the Miss Basketball award, given to the top high school girls' basketball player in the state of Michigan. A heavily recruited prospect, Kamm was ranked as the 76th best player overall and the 12th best wing by All-Star Girls Report. She chose Marquette over Michigan State, Clemson, Maryland, Cincinnati and Indiana.
"Danielle is an exciting player that has many offensive weapons," Mitchell said. "She can play several positions on the court which will make her so valuable to our team right from the start. She was one the most highly recruited players that has said yes to us, and she has the ability to make a significant impact at Marquette."
McCullough is entering her senior year at Rosary High School in St. Louis, Mo.. She averaged 18.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 steals last year as a junior and was named first-team all-state for the second straight year. McCullough is rated by the All-Star Girls Report as the 15th best power forward and the 88th best overall player. She is an active AAU player and was named an AAU All-America Honorable Mention at last year's national tournament. She chose Marquette over Colorado State, Nebraska, Southwest Missouri State, Saint Louis and Alabama A&M.
"Jasmine is an explosive player that has the ability to make things happen," Mitchell said. "She plays with passion and that fire will be contagious for the rest of the team. Jasmine will be able to play both inside and out and her athleticism will be an incredible asset."
Quaye is a power forward, playing her senior year, at Regina Dominican High School in Willamette, Ill. Last season, she scored 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game as she was selected third-team all-state. Heading into this year, she was listed as an honorable mention All-America by Street & Smith magazine in the preseason and was ranked in the top 50 girl's basketball players in Illinois by the Chicago Sun Times. Quaye chose Marquette over DePaul, Illinois and Illinois State.
"Christina has an incredible physical presence inside," Mitchell said. "She loves to bang with her powerful frame and is not afraid of contact. She has great court sense and has a versatility to play with her back to the basket as well as facing. She will add a toughness to our team that will be exciting."
