Five Women's Soccer Players Named All C-USA

CHICAGO - For the second straight year, Marquette's Kate Gordon and Anne Dalecky were named to the first team All-Conference USA women's soccer team, the league announced. Three other players earned All C-USA honors. MU's Anne Ioder was named second-team all-league. Kristen Jensen was selected to third-team All C-USA and Julie Thompson was selected to the conference's all-freshman team.
Gordon, a senior forward from Sioux City, Iowa, is the team's leading scorer with 10 goals and 26 points. Through the end of the regular season, Gordon was fifth in the league in points and was fourth in the league in goals. Gordon is a three time first-team All-Conference USA selection.
Dalecky, a senior defender from Wauwatosa, Wis., has been Marquette's starting central defender for the duration of the season. She led Marquette to nine shutouts and helped hold opponents to a 1.16 goals per game average. This is Dalecky's second time as a first-team All-Conference USA selection.
Dalecky and Gordon join Courtney Crandell, Charlotte; Jamie Perry, Saint Louis; Mikel Casey, Charlotte; Amanda Duffy, East Carolina; Jenny Kehl, Saint Louis; Tia Opliger, South Florida; Heather Herweh, Cincinnati; Kim Moore, Charlotte; and Meghann Burke, Saint Louis as first-team All C-USA selections.
Ioder, a junior midfielder from Franklin, Wis., earns her second selection as second-team All-Conference USA. Ioder is Marquette's second most productive shot maker, with 37 attempts, this season. She has 19 shots on goal and scored twice this season. She also has two assists and a match winning goal.
Jensen, a junior midfielder from Shorewood, Ill., was named to her third all-conference team. She was a first-team selection in her freshman and sohpomore seasons. Jensen anchors Marquette's play at central midfielder. She started in 16 of MU's 20 matches and has been a significant contributor on both ends of the field. Jensen has one goal on the year, scoring the match winner against Rhode Island.
Thompson, a freshman midfielder from Naperville, Ill., came on late during the year and tied for the team in assists with six. She logged four of her six assists in the final four matches of the year, including a two-assist performance against Vanderbilt. Thompson also had a goal during the course of the season, scoring the lone tally in a 1-0 win over Tulane.
The Golden Eagles begin their run at the Conference USA Tournament championship on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. (EST) against Saint Louis in Charlotte, N.C.
