MILWAUKEE - Marquette head volleyball coach Laura Farina has announced the hiring of Amy Lee as the second assistant coach in the MU volleyball program. Her appointment is effective immediately.
Lee comes to Marquette with significant experience. Prior to Marquette, Lee spent the last two seasons as the Director of Volleyball Operations for the University of Wisconsin. While at Wisconsin, she was responsible for team travel and practice arrangements, directing summer camps, overseeing academics, and other administrative duties.
"We have taken our time in filling this assistant coach position," Farina said. "Experience, passion, enthusiasm are qualities we desired. Amy Lee brings these qualities in addition to her knowledge of volleyball in the state of Wisconsin."
Lee has also served as head coach of the Wisconsin Power Volleyball Club each of the last two seasons. She also coached at Middleton High School, directing the junior varsity program.
Her playing credentials are well documented. As a player, she helped Wisconsin to earn a share of the Big Ten Conference championship in 1997. During that season, she earned first-team All-Big Ten and second-team All-American honors. Additionally, she was a three-time academic All-Big Ten honoree. She finished her career as Wisconsin's all time kills leader (1,661) and is still amongst Wisconsin's all-time leaders in kills, attempts (4,129), blocks and aces.
"I'm extremely excited to get started," Lee said. "This is a perfect opportunity to get involved with a program on the rise and I'm definitely ready to be a part of it."
Lee graduated from Wisconsin in 1998 with a degree in history and political science.
