The Marquette men's golf team hits the midway point of its spring season this weekend when it travels to Greenville, North Carolina for the Pirate Spring Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina University. This week's tournament is the first since Marquette placed second at the Kauai Collegiate Cup, March 22-23.
Tournament Format and Field
Three 18-hole rounds will complete the 2002 Pirate Spring Intercollegiate. The first 36 holes will be played on Friday, April 5, with the final round contested on Saturday, April 6.
Among those teams joining Marquette in this year's 25-team field are: defending champion Campbell, Cincinnati, DePaul, and East Carolina. Teams will field five golfers and count the four best scores of each round towards the final team score.
Bradford Creek Golf Course
The Bradford Creek Golf Club will be the tournament site this weekend. The par-72 course has been lengthened almost 200 yards since last year and now plays 7,151 yards long.
Last Time at the Pirate Spring Intercollegiate
Campbell walked away with the overall team title, while Craig Mason of George Mason was the individual champion. The Camels shot a three-round six-over, 870 while Mason shot a tournament-best 68 in the final round to finish at five-under, 211. He won the individual title by defeating Andrew Svoboda of St. John's in a playoff.
