WEST CHICAGO, Ill. -- With all five Marquette golfers in the top 30, MU sits in fourth place, eight strokes beihind first-place DePaul.
Marquette posted rounds of 311 and 299 for a two-round total of 610. The Golden Eagles are tied with Saint Louis for fourth place. DePaul leads the tournament at 26-over, 602. Memphis is in second at 606 and Eastern Illinois is in thired at 607.
While no Marquette golfers are in the top 10, the team posted solid scored to be in the top half of the touranment. MU is led by sophomore Jason Gaare. He posted rounds of 80 and 72 to be in 12th place at 153 (+8). He is seven strokes off the lead, held by Kyle Maxwell of Eastern Illinois with a one-over, 145.
Freshman Kyle Murphy is in a tie for 13th place at nine-over 153. Senior Matt Hilton is one shot behind Murphy's group at 154, tied for 18th. Sophomore Nathan Colson is one shot behind Hilton's group at 155. Freshman Steve Sass rounds out the MU lineup with a 156 and is in 28th place.
The tournament continues Sept. 24 at Prarie Landing Golf Club in West Chicago, Ill.
