Women's Soccer Ranked 21st by NSCAA MU ranked for the first time this season
MISSION, Kan. - Marquette women's soccer is ranked for the first time this season. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has the Golden Eagles ranked 21st in its poll, released Monday, Sept. 23.
This marks the first time that MU is in the national poll this season. The Golden Eagles were last ranked on October 15, 2001, when they were ranked 18th in the NSCAA poll. MU was ranked as high as 17th last season and was ranked for five week last season.
MU is coming off a two-win week, defeating regionally ranked Wisconsin and 15th-ranked Duke. The only loss of the week was to top ranked North Carolina. Marquette is currently 6-2 on the season and rose from third to eighth in the latest Great Lakes region rankings. The Golden Eagles are also receiving votes in the Soccer Buzz poll.
Marquette opens Conference USA play on Friday, Sept. 27 against Tulane at Valley Fields at 7 p.m.
