Two Golden Eagle Golfers in Top 10 at Cardinal Intercollegiate

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. -- Marquette senior Matt Hilton and sophomore Nathan Colson are within five shots of the lead at the Cardinal Intercollegiate in Simpsonville, Ky.
Ryan Gildersleeve of South Alabama holds the two round lead, shooting matching 68s to finish at eight-under, 136. Matt Hilton shot a 68 in the first round to be in a five way tie for first after the first round. His second round 73 has him at three-under, 141, and tied for sixth. Colson is also in sixth, shooting the same numbers as Hilton, just in reverse order at 73 and 68.
Gildersleeve leads the South Alabama charge in first place. The Jaguars shot an eight under, 568. Southern Miss is two strokes back at six-under, 570. Marquette's third, fourth and fifth place golfers struggled as MU finished in 13th despite the two golfers in sixth place.
Freshman Steve Sass shot a two-round 154 and is in 60th place. Freshman Kyle Murphy is in 63rd place at 155. Sophomore Jason Gaare is in 74th place at 164.
Tuesday's final round at the par-72 6,992-yard Cardinal Club will begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
