MILWAUKEE - Junior goalkeeper Katie Bissen (Maple Grove, Minn.) was named Conference USA Women's Soccer Defender-of-the-Week, as chosen by the league head coaches.
Bissen posted consecutive shutouts to lead the Golden Eagles to road wins at Cincinnati (2-0) and Louisville (1-0) in Conference USA play last weekend. In the match against the Bearcats, Bissen made five saves. She followed that performance with four saves against Louisville, helping the Golden Eagles to key C-USA road wins. Bissen is tied for first in the league with the five shutouts.
This is the second time that Bissen has won the award this season. She was named C-USA Defensive Player-of-the-Week on September 8 after blanking USC and Oakland.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. against Charlotte at Valley Fields.
