MILWAUKEE ? The Christian rock group, The Katinas, will perform at the U.S. Cellular Arena following the conclusion of Marquette's women's basketball game with Drake on Saturday, Nov. 22.
The Katinas are a five member group featuring a quintet of Samoa-born brothers. The Katinas' style varies from classic Motown, urban hip-hop, neo-soul and islands-influenced pop, blended with a contemporary Christian message.
The group recently released their fourth album, Roots, and will be on the 20th stop on their 52 date U.S. tour. For more information on the group, visit their website at www.thekatinas.com.
The game follows the Marquette/Drake women's basketball game. Marquette will be opening up its 2003-04 season with the contest. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 16-14 season and a trip to the Women's National Invitation Tournament. Marquette set a pair of team school records last season, creating new highs in three point field goal percentage and free throw percentage.
Led by head coach Terri Mitchell, the Golden Eagles are set to begin a historic season. The team will return to campus for its home games. Marquette will play at the Al McGuire Center, with its first game taking place on January 4, 2004, against Columbia.
