Travis Diener Named C-USA Athlete of the Week

MILWAUKEE, Nov. 24 - Conference USA announced today that Marquette University junior guard Travis Diener (Fond du Lac, Wis./Goodrich) was named C-USA Player of the Week, for the period ending November 23.
Diener has guided the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 start this season, including two wins last weekend to capture the 42nd annual Blue and Gold Classic, the program?s fifth straight title, and 28th overall, in the event.
Diener, named the tournament's MVP, averaged 20.0 points and 6.0 assists in the two Classic games, including a tournament-high 26 points and nine assists in Saturday?s championship game victory over Valparaiso.
Diener opened the season with 18 points and six steals in MU?s 52-45 victory over St. John?s in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on November 13.
Through three games this season, the 6-1 junior has recorded 16 assists while committing only two turnovers, and leads the team in scoring, assists, steals and minutes played per game.
This is the first career C-USA weekly honor for Diener.
