MESTRE, Italy -- Hello again!
We made it to Venice, and so far the weather has been superb. It is game day ... YEAH!
Because of our game tonight, our group spent the entire morning relaxing on a boat ride to Venice and we also shopped a little bit. Venice is an incredible city ... completely built on water.
We rode on the boat for just short of an hour, with a view tht was nothing special. Then, as we turn the corner in the channel, there it was! Building after building, resembling the city streets of New York, ran as far as we could see. The buildings looked just inches from the water.
As we boated by, the buildings were only interrupted by small canals that gondolas could just fit through. It created a very romantic and peaceful scene.
The best part of this mornin is that most of us took gondola rides! Terri and MEM were very camera-happy, snapping shot after shot of the players as we rode on three separate ones. Crystal thoroughly enjoyed the pigeons that were in the main square. She loved to feed them and have them take rest on her arms. We snapped many pictures of this, but tried to stay away from "the rats with wings" as Jon would call them. I have never seen so many pigeons in my entire life, and if they got startled, they all flew overhead and scared all the tourists trying to take pictures of the buildings.
Now it is game time and we are all in the hotel getting ready. I will write again and report on how our first game went! Bye!
