Golden Eagles Come From Behind to Beat EnergyCA GEAS

SAN GIOVANNI, Italy - Marquette rallied from as many as 16 down to defeat EnergyCA GEAS at the Palazzetto Dante Enaudi, 89-86. The Golden Eagles played their final game of the touring trip of Italy, finishing 3-1.
Marquette nearly let this game slip away early. The first quarter and first half belonged to the home team. EnergyCA GEAS was 11-for-18 from the floor in the first 10 minutes to take a 26-16 lead at the end of the first quarter. EnergyCA GEAS poured on 30 points in the second quarter to take a 56-41 lead in the first half.
Marquette's defense came to life in the second half. MU held EnergyCA GEAS to 13 points in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth in the come from behind effort. MU allowed its hosts just seven field goals in the final 20 minutes -- only two of which came in the fourth quarter.
Marquette trimmed its deficit to 10 by opening the second half with a 5-0 run. Rashida Gales led Marquette with 10 points in the third, all of her points in the contest. Marquette took its first lead of the game with 5:48 to play with Katie O'Grady made a layup to put MU up at 77-75. After two ties and three lead changes in the fourth, Marquette extended its lead to as many as six holding on four the three point lead.
Katie Alsdurf led Marquette in scoring with 16 points. Annalisa Cenisini led all scorers with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Crystal Weaver added 12 for Marquette. Monica Frede led the MU starters with 10 points. Silvia Gottardi scored 16 off the bench for the home team.
