MILWAUKEE, WI - The Milwaukee Brewers will honor the Marquette University men's basketball team during the pre-game ceremonies on Saturday, June 7 before the club's game against the Boston Red Sox.
Coach Tom Crean will join members of his basketball squad on the field and throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Brewers interleague contest with Boston.
"The Golden Eagles thrilled basketball fans around the country with their exciting run to the Final Four this past season," said Milwaukee Brewers' Executive Vice President Rick Schlesinger. "It is an honor to have Coach Crean and his players join us on Saturday evening."
The 2002-03 Marquette basketball squad made the school's first appearance in the NCAA Final Four since 1977 and finished with an overall record of 27-6, tying it for the second-highest win total in school history. The Golden Eagles, ranked No. 6 nationally in the final ESPN/USA Today Poll, also claimed the program's first-ever Conference USA regular-season championship with a 14-2 won-lost ledger.
Fans are encouraged to wear their blue and gold on Saturday night in support of both the Brewers and Marquette. It is also National Service Day for Marquette and alumni booths will be set up at the Miller Park gates for more information about the university.
Marquette alumni should go to the school's website at www.gomarquette.edu for more information.
Tickets for Saturday night's game as well as all of the Brewers games at Miller Park are available by calling 414-902-4000 or 1-800-933-7890. Fans can also get tickets at the Brewers ticket office or by visiting www.milwaukeebrewers.com.
