Marquette Volleyball Falls To Ohio In Four Games

MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette volleyball dropped its opening Saturday match in the Holiday inn Centre Challenge this morning against Ohio. The Bobcats topped the Golden Eagles, 25-30, 30-27, 30-27, 30-28 at the MU Gym. With the win, OU raised its record to 5-3 while MU fell to 2-6.
Ohio finished the match with a 24.7 hitting percentage (64-23--166) compared to MU's 17.8 percent (62-31--174). Marquette finished with 70 digs compared to 66 for Ohio but the visitors managed a 14-10 margin in total blocks.
Leading the way for Marquette was junior Erica Heisser (Grand Rapids, Mich.) with 12 attacks along with an outstanding 52.4 percent hitting percentage (12-1--21). Sophomore Aga Niemcezewska (Vernon Hills, Ill.) and senior Ann Lopata (Glenn Ellyn, Ill.) each notched 10 attacks. Senior Gemma Greer (Winfield, Ill.) recorded 39 assists along with a match-high 17 digs.
Marquette closes out the Holiday Inn City Centre Challenge Saturday evening against No. 23 Missouri.
