Marquette Volleyball Drops Four-Game Decision To Wyoming

MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette volleyball team dropped a four-game decision to Wyoming this afternoon in its opening Saturday match at the Wingate INNvitational hosted by Montana State. The Cowgirls upped their record to 9-4 following a 33-31, 30-25, 25-30, 30-21 win over the Golden Eagles who fell to 2-9.
Wyoming recorded an 18.8 attack percentage (59-28--165) and held Marquette to 10.0 percent (61-42--190). UW also held a 72-68 advantage in digs and a 9-5 margin in blocks.
Sophomore Theresa Coughlin (Chicago) led all players with 15 kills while junior Erin Freer (Stevensville, Mich.) followed her career-best 21 kills last evening with 12 attacks against Wyoming. Sophomore Aga Niemcezewska (Vernon Hills, Ill.) and senior Ann Lopata (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) finished the contest with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Senior Gemma Greer (Winfield, Ill.) doled out 50 assists.
Marquette concludes play in the tournament this evening when it battles host Montana State.
