Golfers Sit in 11th after Two Rounds at Cardinal Intercollegiate

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. -- The Marquette men's golf team, playing its fifth round in three days, is in a tie for 11th place with Virginia Commonwealth after the first 36 holes of The Cardinal Intercollegiate in Simpsonville, Ky. Marquette concluded play at the Hoosier Intercollegiate yesterday, where it finished 11th.
The host school, Louisville, leads the way with a six-over, 582 on its home course. Southern Miss is in second three strokes back. The Golden Eagles shot a 608 for the 36 holes and are 26 strokes behind the Cardinals
South Alabama's Gareth Maybin leads the event by three strokes, shooting a five-under, 139. Eastern Kentucky's Patrick Williams shot tournament best 66 in the second round to trail Maybin by three strokes.
Marquette sophomore Kyle Murphy again paces the Golden Eagles. He was the top MU golfer at the Hoosier Intercollegiate. He is in a bottle-neck in 18th place. He shot a five-over 149. MU sophomore Joe Weber is also tied with Weber at 149.
Freshman Michael Bielawski is in 50h place at 154. Sophomore Steve Sass is in 60th at 166. Nathan Colson is in 63rd place at 159.
Play continues tomorrow, September 30, with the final round of The Cardinal Intercollegiate. Tee time is at 8:30 a.m.
