Marquette Volleyball Falls To Kansas

Milwaukee - The Marquette volleyball team dropped a three-game decision to Kansas this morning at the Nike Invitational Tournament held at the University of Minnesota. The Jayhawks upped their record to 4-1 following a 30-20, 30-20, 30-25, decision over the Golden Eagles who fell to 1-4.
KU's defense kept Marquette in check for the majority of the match with the Golden Eagles hitting just .088 percent (35-25-113). Junior Erica Heisser (Grand Rapids, Mich.) was the lone MU player to finish in double figures in attacks with 11 kills. Junior Sarah Vernon (Englewood, Col.) led the team with nine digs. Junior Erin Freer (Stevensville, Mich.) chipped in five attacks along with eight digs.
Ashley Michaels and Josiane Lima of Kansas each totaled 12 attacks while Janaina Correa lead all players with 10 digs. The Jayhawks hit 28.5 percent (50-15-123) for the match and finished with a 6-4 margin in total blocks. Marquette posted 50 digs compared to KU's 42.
The Golden Eagles close out play at the NIKE Invitational this evening against No. 13-ranked Minnesota.
