A Strong Finish
1/13/2004 12:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball
For the past month, Terri has been talking to the team about the importance of games over Christmas break. We had a total of nine games over our break, and this is where teams begin to separate, as Terri puts it. At the very beginning of our break, we knew that every game would say a lot about our character and potential.
We finished strong. We had nine games in 29 days, including six games in 14 days. Finishing Christmas break with a record of 12-3 is much better than what many people expected. It is exactly what we said we wanted ? and expected.
Conference play is in full swing, and we are 2-0 right now. If there is one thing any avid follower of college hoops can attest to, it is that no team can be taken lightly. Conference play is full of big wins and big upsets all across the country every year. Of course we are all happy to be at 2-0, but we have big games ahead, starting with USF and UAB on the road.
We leave Thursday for Florida, and we are excited to be traveling to this sunny state for more than one reason!
This is the eighth in a series of diary entries by junior forward Monica Frede. Her diary will appear every Tuesday on www.gomarquette.com.
