On The Road

This past weekend, we traveled to South Florida and UAB. Traveling from seven to seventy degree weather was certainly not a problem to any of us, even though it was only for a day and a half. On game day, Terri gave us a half-hour to soak up some vitamin D, a time limit that she strictly enforced - down to the second. This sun (and of course all of our preparation) proved a lot of good, because we won, 60-40.
The hotels we stay in on road trips are very nice. In Florida, we stayed in a Hilton that had a superb breakfast buffet, and anyone that knows our team at all knows how serious we can get over the quality of our breakfasts. In Birmingham, we stayed at a Sheraton that had very soft S-stitched pillows we talked about for awhile (Christina, I forgive you for stealing mine.). Road trips are also an inspiration for funny quotes, including Katie's now-famous quote she gave to our waiter, Joey, that "we are on the road to Birmingham!" (Now that I write it, it's one of those funny stories in which you just have to be there.) Unfortunately, this trip did not end very fun. We lost to UAB in overtime by two points.
After the game, we had exactly two hours to bus to Atlanta (a two-hour bus trip) in order to make our flight. After busing--sweaty--to the airport, then sprinting--still sweaty--to the gate, our flight was delayed. We were thankful to make our flight, once we caught our breaths. We are back home, and after a day off in which we watched film to learn from our loss, we are preparing for our next games.
