Vancura is a 6-foot outside hitter and was recruited to Marquette because of her height and leaping ability. She can reach 9-feet-10, illustrating her skills to get above the net.
Vancura recently finished her senior season at Mukwonago High School where she was captain of her team and named first-team All-Classic 8 conference. She was named honorable mention all-state by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association after leading her team to a regional final appearance in 2004.
A four-time letterwinner at Mukwonago, Vancura served as team captain since her sophomore year. She was second team all-conference as a junior and a sophomore. She was part of Mukwonago teams that advanced to the regional finals in 2003 and 2002.
She also has outstanding club experience, playing for the Milwaukee Sting. She was named an All-American last season at the United States Junior Olympic National event in the 16 Open age division, helping the team to a second place national finish.
"Her best asset is her size," head coach Pati Rolf said. "She is incredibly hard working and outgoing. That will help her fit in with our program. Playing with the Milwaukee Sting has given her some valuable experience. She's played for national championships at the club level. That's the kind of experience that we're looking for."
