Marquette takes on Toledo just hours before the traditional carving of the Thanksgiving Day Turkey. The game takes place at the Al McGuire Center on Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. It is the third game in five days for the Golden Eagles, whose frantic start to the season concludes Friday. It is the second game of the year for Toledo.
Marquette and Toledo renew a series that dates back to March of 2003, when it began in the first round of the WNIT. Marquette has defeated Toledo two previous times.
With a Win against Toledo ...
Marquette would be 3-0 for the second time in as many years and for the third time in school history ... Marquette?s home win streak would increase to 13 games ... Marquette would remain undefeated at the Al McGuire Center, increasing its record to 10-0.
Scouting Toledo
Marquette and Toledo meet for the third time in series history. The new series began two years ago in the first round of the WNIT. Marquette has prevailed both times.
Toledo is coming off a 62-57 win over Cincinnati in their season opener. The Rockets were paced by 23 points from junior forward Danielle Bishop, who put up 20 shots. Senior center Karin Hoogendam scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to dominate the inside.
Last season, Marquette won by eight with Danielle Kamm scoring 10 points. The Golden Eagles limited Hoogendam to two points and kept her in foul trouble.
Toledo head coach Mark Ehlen owns a 191-81 record in nine years at Toledo and a 313-211 career mark in 19 seasons.
