November 27, 2004 - Sophomore Dameon Mason recorded his second career double-double, 26 points and 10 rebounds, in Marquette?s 95-87 victory at Oakland on Saturday night. The victory improved the Golden Eagles to a perfect 6-0.
Senior point guard Travis Diener added 23 points and five assists, as five Marquette players scored in double figures. Junior Steve Novak scored 14 points, connecting four three-point field goals, and seniors Marcus Jackson and Todd Townsend had 10 points each.
The 95 points scored were the most for the Golden Eagles since scoring 101 against Missouri in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in March 2003, and the 13 three-point field goals were the most by a Marquette team since March 7, 1997, when they also converted 13 threes in a 91-79 victory over Cincinnati.
Marquette led by as many as 15 points in the first half and used clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch to hold off Oakland?s late second half rally.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, December 1, when they host Delaware State at the Bradley Center. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
