Women's Tennis Ends Regular Season with a Win

The Marquette Women's Tennis team notched its sixth win of the season, beating UAB 5-1 to finish the season 6-15. The Golden Eagles faced stiff competition throughout the year (including 11 ranked teams) and suffered a program-worst twelve match losing streak. Marquette responded, however, winning two our of the last three, to improve its C-USA record to 2-1, earning a six seed in the conference tournament, which gets underway Thursday, April 15.
At UAB, the Golden Eagles came out and dominated the singles points, winning the top five matches in straight sets. The only mark made by the Blaszers was at No. 6 singles, where Samrin Tanzeem bested Marquette's freshman Dominika Dabrowski. Because the match had been decided, the doubles point was suspended, leaving Marquette with a 5-1 victory.
Marquette now heads to Louisville, where the Conference USA Championships begin on Thursday. The Golden Eagles, seeded sixth, take on 12th-seed Southern Miss at Noon EDT.
