Golfers Finish 12th in Final Event of Season

Weber leads squad for second-straight event

AKRON, Ohio -- Sophomore Joe Weber proved to be Marquette's most consistent golfer over the final week of the season. After leading the team in scoring at the Conference USA Men's Golf Championship to begin the week, Weber led the squad at the First Energy Intercollegiate in Akron, Ohio.

Weber fired the team low in both the first and third rounds, matching par in round two. A 74 in round three tied him for 23rd place with a five-over, 221.

Sophomore Kyle Murphy had the only round lower than Weber for any Marquette golfer. His second round 71 was MU's only total to break par and helped him to a nine-over 225. He finished tied for 41st place.

Marquette finished 12th as a team. The Golden Eagles shot a 40-over 904 in the season finale. Xavier won the event, shooting a three-under, 861. Toledo's Brad Heaven won the event by six strokes, with a 10-under, 206.

Rounding out the field for Marquette, junior Nathan Colson finished 46th at 226; freshman Michael Bielawski placed 64th with a 232; and sophomore Steve Sass ended in 96th position with a 242.
