Golfers Fare Well at State Amateur

SAUKVILLE, Wis. ? Sophomore Michael Bielawski finished one shot off the pace in the Wisconsin State Golf Association State Amateur Championship, played at The Bog in Saukville.
Bielawsk (West Allis, Wis.i finished the four round event at 294. He carded third and fourth round 74s after a 71-75 in the first two rounds. He finished fourth behind a pack of three who tied for the low score. Pat Boyle of Milwaukee, Garrett Jones of Rewey and Jeff Kaiser of Onalaska finished the 72-hole event at 293. Boyle won the event in a sudden-death playoff.
Marquette junior Joe Weber (Bryant, Wis.) was also in contention, finishing seventh. He shot a 299 and was six strokes off the pace.
Senior Nathan Colson (Plymouth, Wis.) and junior Steve Sass (Mequon) each carded a 303 in the tournament. Mark Eldridge (Elm Grove, Wis.) shot a 327.
