MILWAUKEE ? Outside hitter Theresa Coughlin had 14 kills and middle blocker Erica Heisser had 13 kills to lead Marquette to a 3-0 (30-25, 30-22, 30-15) win over South Dakota State in the third match of the Howard Johnson Jesuit Joust.
Outside hitter Kimberley Todd also had 10 kills for the Golden Eagles (6-2), who win their third straight game. Erin Freer led a threesome with 10 or more digs with 12.
"I'm really pleased with our defense, especially the play of Erin Freer," head coach Pati Rolf said. "She's really made a difference."
Marquette had six different players record kills.
"I'm pleased with the way our young players stepped up today," Rolf added.
Loyola (Ill.) took five games to defeat Boston College in the earlier match of the tournament, setting up the final match between Marquette and Loyola for the tournament title.
