CHICAGO ? Marquette (4-3-0, 0-1-0) dropped its Conference USA opener to DePaul (5-3-0, 1-0-0), 3-0 Sunday afternoon in Chicago.
Lea Hill proved to be too much for the Golden Eagles, scoring the second and third goals for the Blue Demons to lead her team to victory.
Julianne Sitch scored DePaul?s first goal just five minutes into the match.
?When you let one in five minutes into the game, that changes the complexity of the game,? said head coach Markus Roeders.
Marquette showed fight right away in the second half with shots on goal by Meghan Connelly, Heather Goranson and Kristie Matola, but couldn?t find the net.
?We put ourselves in a hole and you can?t do that against a team like DePaul. It was probably as disappointing of a first half as we have played. We never found a rhythm.?
Marquette will travel to California for the Santa Clara Tournament this weekend. The Golden Eagles are set to face Santa Clara on Friday and Stanford on Sunday.
