Senior guard set career high in Marquette win over DePaul
MILWAUKEE ? Marquette senior guard Lesley Juedes was named Conference USA Women?s Basketball Co-Player-of-the-Week by the C-USA office.
Juedes scored a career-high 21 points to lead all scorers in a victory over No. 18 DePaul. She was 5-of-9 from beyond the three-point line and a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Juedes scored 13 points in the second half, hitting three three-pointers. She also grabbed four boards and had just one turnover in 35 minutes of play.
?We?re very proud of Lesley in her senior year,? Marquette head coach Terri Mitchell said. ?She?s been stepping up in so many ways. Lesley came on strong at the end of her junior year last year and has been hitting big shots for us this year as a senior.?
Juedes has scored 17 points or more three times this season and has averaged 11.7 points per game over the last seven games. In that stretch, she upped her season scoring average from 4.9 to its current 8.3 points per game. She has earned starts in the last two games and has started three times this season.
She shared the award with TCU?s Sandora Irvin.
Marquette plays its next game on Friday, Jan. 14 when it hosts Charlotte at 7 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center.
