Hello basketball fans!
There has been a lot of exciting basketball going on in the Al! Last week, we played our last non-conference game against Penn State, and this week we opened conference against DePaul.
And, as I'm sure you all know, we did win both. Going into the Penn State game, we knew it was so important for us to win. We came close, so close, to beating Notre Dame and Iowa. We knew we should've won those games, and none of us wanted those "should've, could've, would've" feelings about Penn State. We ended non-conference on a win, and that momentum carried us right into DePaul.
Whenever Marquette plays DePaul, there is always a little extra fire in the gut. To start out conference with this rivalry was a great opportunity for us to knock off a ranked team right away. Although we had a week to prepare ourselves for DePaul, the fact that it was DePaul helped motivate us to make it through the two-a-day practices and all the time we had to prepare and learn about them.
Of course, just because it's Christmas break doesn't mean we spent all day, every day, at the gym. (Okay, well, not all day) One evening, after a big snowfall, we all got together to be kids again and play in the snow. Let's just say it was a good chance for a few of us to get rid of some lingering aggression we held onto from the week's practices. After all, it doesn't hurt nearly as bad being tackled in the snow as it would anywhere else.
This week, we have two more home games on Friday against Charlotte, and Sunday against East Carolina.
The Packers are done (boo...) so all those seats in The Al better be filled this weekend!
Have a good week everyone,
