Diener named finalist for Cousy Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Jan. 13 - Travis Diener leads a list of 18 finalists for the 2005 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award presented by the Basketball Hall of Fame, it was announced today.

The Cousy Award, which considers outstanding point guards from all three NCAA divisions, is being presented for the second time. Last year's recipient was Jameer Nelson of St. Joseph's.

A finalist for the award in 2004, Diener has led Marquette to a 13-1 start, its best in 27 years, and is averaging 20.9 points and 6.6 assists.
