Marquette junior midfielder Julie Thompson (Palos Heights, Ill./Naperville Central) earned yet another award for her fine 2004 season on the field and in the classroom. Thompson was named to the NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-North/Central Regional Second Team.
"This award, combined with the other awards she has already received, show that Julie is a top notch athlete and a top notch student," said head coach Markus Roeders. "She sets a strong example on and off the field for her teammates and will do the same for our team next season as a senior. Hopefully, the outstanding year she has had in 2004 will carry over to 2005."
This team is an exclusive group of players who, combined with solid play on the field, need a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above for every semester they are in school. Thompson has a GPA of 3.65.
Thompson earned NSCAA All-Regional honors as well as first team All-Conference USA honors in 2004. The midfielder played almost every minute of all 21 games for Marquette this season, scoring four goals and adding five assists. Thompson led Marquette to a 12-8-1 record in 2004.
